Neighbors, I have been working with the city since Saturday on the malfunctioning light at Chesapeake and 6th. Here is a statement from the city:

___

The traffic signal at Chesapeake Ave & Sixth Street in Eastport has malfunctioned and is currently operating in flash mode.

• Flashing yellow side = proceed with caution

• Flashing red side = stop, then proceed when safe

This is not a four-way stop. Please use caution and follow the flashing signal indications.

The Department of Public Works has been out to repair and has ordered the replacement part needed to fully restore the signal. Due to holiday shipping timelines, the part is delayed. We anticipate full repair shortly after the New Year.

Thank you for your patience and for traveling safely through Eastport.

___

I appreciate the Public Works Department’s efforts to fix the traffic light, hopefully before school returns. And I will continue to track this progress and ensure you are informed.

All the Best, Frank
