Traffic & Parking Improvements in Ward 8

Ward 8 is working with the City of Annapolis to implement a plan to improve traffic flow and maximize parking availability in Eastport. Alderman Thorp sent Mayor Littmann a letter {LINK is Item 10} on December 2, 2025, to request the city staff participate in a series of meetings to identify the current traffic and parking problems in Ward 8, propose solutions to these problems and develop a plan to fund and implement these improvements.

The first phase of this project is a series of meetings with residents and businesses from different areas of Ward 8 and City experts to identify the current problems and determine solutions for the way forward. While numerous studies exist, we will begin the conversation based on the most recent studies, the 2016 Eastport Transportation Study and the 2018 Eastport Parking Report {Need to move this link from Frank4Ward8.com to new website}.  Several recommendations in these reports have been completed, and several new problems have been raised since the studies were completed. Several important guidelines for the discussion should be:

  • The guiding documents should be the existing reports.

  • Problems should be clearly defined before any solutions are proposed.

  • Not everyone is going to get everything we want.

  • We will be guided by the philosophy, “can you live with this?”

The goal of these sessions will be to define problems and possible solutions. If this goal is achieved and solutions are identified, we have funding in the 2027 budget to begin making improvements.
